Seats?
In may of 2024, we announced the implementation of the Seats feature- an essential enhancement to our licensing system. This initiative, revealed earlier this year, arises from the necessity to meet strict requirements outlined by the Apple Store.
What does this mean for you?
- We will start the release of seats in the coming weeks. This will be done in phases. This article will guide you through the timeline and explain what each stage means for you and your team.
- The phased release of the Inspector Seats feature is designed to give your team ample time to adapt to the changes and ensure that all users are correctly assigned to the necessary seats. We recommend that portal managers take this time to review workspace assignments and reach out to the support team if additional seats are needed.
- Stay tuned for further updates as we approach the final release, and as always, feel free to contact our support team with any questions or concerns.
Phased Release
The Inspector Seats feature will roll out in three stages:
- Phase 1 – Soft Release.
Admins can view available seats and assign them as needed, while users without seats will see a pop-up message. - Phase 2 – Extended Seat Requirements.
Users will need assigned seats in every workspace they access, with further reminders provided. - Phase 3 – Final Release.
Inspector seats will be mandatory across all workspaces for users to proceed with inspections.

Phase 1: Soft Release (Coming in a Few Weeks)
In the first stage of the release, QC One portal Admins will gain access to an Inspector Seats overview. This overview will allow managers to oversee how many seats are available within their workspaces and assign them to inspectors.
During this soft release, if your team requires additional inspector seats, simply contact the QC One Support Team, who will be happy to assist in allocating more.

Update to the QC One Inspector App
Additionally, this phase introduces an update to the QC One Inspector App. Users who do not have an inspector seat assigned in any of the workspaces they have access to will receive an informative pop-up message upon logging in. This message is meant to give portal managers time to assign seats as needed. It’s important to note that during this stage, the pop-up is only informational, and users will still be able to dismiss it and continue their work as usual.

Phase 2: Extended Seat Assignments (Launching a Few Weeks After Phase 1)
The second phase will introduce an additional level of seat management. In this stage, users will start receiving an informative pop-up message for each workspace they have access to. While in Phase 1, users only needed an inspector seat assigned in one workspace, Phase 2 encourages assigning seats in every workspace where inspections take place.
Like the first phase, this pop-up message will be purely informational, giving managers time to allocate the necessary seats. Users will still be able to dismiss the message and continue their work.
Phase 3: Final Release (A Few Weeks After Phase 2)
The final stage of the Inspector Seats feature will require all users to have inspector seats assigned in every workspace they have access to. At this point, the pop-up messages will transition from being informational to mandatory. Users without assigned inspector seats will receive an error message in the app, preventing them from proceeding with inspections until the seat assignment is completed.
This final phase ensures that all inspector roles are properly managed and that only authorized users can carry out inspections across workspaces.
Stay Updated to Avoid Data Conflicts
As we roll out the Inspector Seats feature, it’s essential to update your QC One application to the latest version. We have observed that some users continue to use older app versions, which can lead to data conflicts or other functionality issues. By ensuring your app is updated, you’ll gain access to the latest features, including Inspector Seats, while avoiding any potential data conflict problems.
