Important Update on QC One Camera Functionality for Consistent Photo Display (Tablets)

We value the feedback you’ve shared with us about the camera’s performance, and we’re committed to providing a reliable experience that supports your high standards and demanding work. Below, we outline the current improvements, background, and our plans moving forward.

1. Background on the Photo Rotation Issue

Over recent months, our team has been working extensively to resolve a specific issue affecting photo orientation within the camera functionality. Due to high-speed usage and variable angles during photo capture, some images were displayed with unintended rotations of 90 or 180 degrees, depending on the device and angle. Despite implementing multiple fixes, the camera functionality did not reach the level of consistency we strive to provide.

2. The Challenge: High-Intensity Work and Device Variability

We understand that QC One users operate in fast-paced environments, capturing images under varying angles and movements. Additionally, our analysis showed significant differences in how different devices handle photo rotation, making it difficult to ensure flawless performance across all scenarios.

3. The Solution: A Predictable Photo Orientation Setting

To ensure a more predictable experience, we have adjusted the camera functionality to standardize the way photos are taken. From now on, photos taken on tablets in the landscape left position will display correctly within the app.

Please note:

  • Photos taken in portrait mode will appear rotated by 90 degrees.
  • For portrait images, we recommend manually rotating them using the rotation icon on the camera screen before saving.

While this approach may differ from user expectations, we believe it offers the most reliable experience and minimizes the risk of unexpected rotations.

4. Looking Ahead: Commitment to Further Improvements

While this solution aims to stabilize the camera functionality, we remain committed to ongoing enhancements. Our team is exploring additional options, including a photo rotation icon within quality reports that would allow users to make any necessary adjustments to photo orientation directly in the report.
